It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
