Bannon, Carlson and... Liz Truss? Inside the Ex- PM's Foray for Make America Great Again

Britain's shortest-serving prime minister, began the inaugural episode of her video series with a pledge to expose "malicious actors" striving to undermine the UK, United States and European nations. Truss elaborated she would lay bare how an "international network of liberal activists function to subvert the democratic process and the public's choice."

"We will examine the Trump revolution and observe how it can be accomplished in Britain," she said. "We'll be talking to the prominent voices of the Trumpist political sphere."

Prior to the show's launch, there was one particularly enthusiastic supporter. "This represents the dawn of a kind of revolution," said the controversial US journalist. His media outlet Just the News will host the former prime minister's new audio shows.

Building Connections in the Maga-Verse

British fellow travellers, including a pro-Reform adviser, have also helped her launch the Liz Truss Show. The setup is adequate, if somewhat rudimentary. The show has attracted 10,000 subscribers in her first week and her first episode garnered sixty-seven thousand views during that week.

This represents a small opening, but in making common cause with the journalist, the former PM is being entering a mature right-wing media network creating and spreading pro-Trump narratives. Key fixations include alleged censorship by the established press and a goal to remove a shadowy government apparatus – which the ex-PM holds responsible for the rapid conclusion of her short and troubled leadership.

"Just the News is not famous outside of the Maga-verse, but it does have gravitas there, mostly due to its founder, who offers opinions on Maga platforms like Bannon's 'War Room' podcast and has even interviewed Trump," noted Alex Hinton, who has closely studied the Maga movement.

A Controversial Partner

The former PM's foray to import American conservative media to the United Kingdom has pushed her closer to divisive personalities such as the journalist.

He founded the platform in the wake of criticism following accusations of promoting false stories about Joe Biden's anticorruption effort in Ukraine, as well as contentious articles about one-time diplomat to the region.

Solomon's reporting were repeated across the pro-Trump media, with he featuring as a common interviewee on Sean Hannity's influential Fox News program. Donald Trump promoted Solomon's reporting.

The journalist published the Ukraine claims in a series of columns for the publication the political newspaper, where he had already been moved to a columnist role after colleagues complained about his work. These reports were pivotal in Trump's pressure for the Ukrainians to look into Hunter Biden and his father in that year. These actions resulted in impeachment charges against the president. Senators later acquitted the president.

Not long after he exited the publication in autumn 2019, the publication stated it was carrying out a review of his columns concerning Ukrainian matters. It concluded Solomon had cited unreliable sources and said he "did not disclose key facts about key Ukrainian sources, such as the fact that they had been charged or were under investigation."

Joining the Network

Solomon's own media appearances are a indication of the political media environment the former prime minister is entering. He discussed his endorsement of Truss's project on a program he presents on Real America's Voice, a rightwing cable channel that is the base for the pro-Trump commentator former adviser Steve Bannon and on which commentator Tucker Carlson also is seen. She has already interviewed the political operative on an early episode.

By partnering with the journalist and his outlet, she has become a niche participant in a broader ecosystem of pro-Trump platforms that often share and promote one another's material.

Solomon's own podcast and Real America's Voice show have often featured personalities such as Mike Benz, a political voice whose arguments against the foreign aid agency was referenced by Elon Musk as grounds for shutting down the government body.

An International Strategy

Although her awkward delivery and professional woes have been mocked in Britain, a number of stateside commentators are not discounting her attempts to reinvent herself as a UK offshoot of the Maga media.

"You have to take individuals such as her with seriousness, even if you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," commented Rob Flaherty, who served in the Biden White House.

"It was evident how in the recent campaign President Trump used that alternative press to get his message out. Certainly that sphere spreads and shapes discourse abroad. It looks fairly obvious to me that the conditions in the Britain are comparable to what allowed this alternative media ecosystem to flourish here."

a political theory expert, said the online conservative ecosystem was already making its presence felt in Britain.

"Digital media is borderless," he stated. "There is a certain atmosphere within which content circulates – sometimes appearing in harsh versions and occasionally in softer tones – but which is connected."

Professor Hinton said the growth of the online right in the UK recently meant the "chance to have a larger effect is substantial."

Global Goals

"Both Truss and Nigel Farage in the recent past appeared at the the major conservative conference, where I saw they echoed Maga talking points before the {king of Maga|
