Adult Swim's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, not long after, the network unveiled a completely new animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, evoking a cartoon version of a serene talk show. At a time often defined by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness struck a chord and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who discovered the show and championed its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about watching this charming family navigate their simple existence.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to evolve comedy past its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well catalyze that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to bask in the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
